What it's for

The rules the Timing Desk checks a race against, written out, with the numbers you can change. They are the account's default; each race gets its own copy, which the race's settings can change on their own.

  • 1. Backup check: every *HT, E or c start and finish time is compared with the same racer's System B time and the filed hand-tape time; pass when within the Hand time tolerance. No backup means "not checked" until one is filed.
  • 2. Hand time: a waiting HT is calculated only with the FIS method (10 valid pairs, nearest racers first, pairs outside the tolerance skipped); fewer than 10 keeps waiting.
  • 3. Possible missed impulse: a run time below or above a percentage of the field's average, per race and run, per group when results are grouped; checked only once enough racers have finished.
  • 4. Outcome: every rule warns only and never blocks publishing; every check is logged in the checks record, and the timer can mark it reviewed.

Steps

  1. Open Settings › Race day › Timing checks.
The switch, the four rules, the thresholds
    Timing checks
  2. Leave Timing checks On, or switch it Off for the whole account.
  3. Under 1. BACKUP CHECK, set the Hand time tolerance in seconds (ships at 0.50).
  4. Under 3. POSSIBLE MISSED IMPULSE, set Below the average and Above the average in percent (ship at 75 and 150), and Missed impulse check starts after a number of finishers (ships at 3).
  5. Press Save.

What success looks like

The desk's tooltips and the checks record read the numbers you saved, and a race created from now on starts with them.
