What it's for

The ⚙ button on the Timing devices card opens the desk's Settings: how the desk on this computer draws its rows, the race's intermediates and speed traps, the software lock times and the timing checks. Four tabs:

  • Display — Latest impulse on top (off = oldest on top), Show Run 1 times, Show Run 2 times, Show competitor names; the name style (Full name, First initial + surname, No names); Display sequence number; Auto-assign numbers (a double-click in Start fills the next number); the row height for the full and the simple layout (24 to 48 px); the Hand time tolerance in seconds.
  • Intermediates & speed traps — the Number of intermediates (0 to 9) between Start and Finish, and a speed trap before any of them. Per race.
  • Software locktimes — a lock time in seconds after a Start or Finish impulse. Inside it the desk still records the next impulse but will not assign a bib to it.
  • Timing checks — On, the Hand time tolerance, the Possible missed impulse thresholds below and above the average (%), and after how many finishers the check starts. A flagged time shows ⚑ on the desk and in Data Management; the check never changes a time.

Steps

  1. Open Timing Desk and press ⚙ on the Timing devices card (or ⚙ Settings in the rail).
  2. Change what you need on each tab.
  3. Press Apply (Display and Software locktimes), Save (Timing checks) or Done (Intermediates & speed traps).

What success looks like

The desk redraws with the new order, names and row height at once; a new intermediate appears as its own column and Inter area.

If something goes wrong

  • Pick the race in ACTIVE RACE first: the intermediates are per race; set the active race.
  • Type a number of seconds from 0.00 to …: the hand time tolerance is out of range.
  • The checks flag a correct time: raise the thresholds, or press Mark reviewed in Data Management.
