What it's for

Timing Desk is step 6 of the rail, under RUN IT. It is where the race is timed: the desk reads the timing devices, pairs each impulse with a bib, works out the run times and feeds the live surfaces and the results. The rail under the step has three groups:

  • Timing — Timing Desk (the desk itself), Import a run, Data Management, Manage Start Lists.
  • Timing devices — the connected devices with their status, the ⚙ Settings, Sync all and Connect device.
  • Data — Delete all timing data… and Delete selected….

Above the rail sits the ACTIVE RACE picker. Everything in this step works on that race and no other.

The Timing Desk step

How it fits together

  • The desk is per race and per run. The ‹ Run 1 / 2 › switch in the header picks the run.
  • An impulse is stored only while the desk's light is green for that race and run; see The traffic light.
  • The desk never rewrites a time, a bib or an order on its own; see What is never changed automatically.
  • A hand time comes only from the calculator in Modify data; see Modify data and hand time.
  • The live surfaces are run from the card at the top of the desk; see Live surfaces.

Before you start

  • The field drawn on Bibs & start lists (only green-ticked racers are on the run 1 list).
  • A timing device connected; see Timing devices.
  • The event activated on Race day if the live surfaces are to show it.

If something goes wrong

  • The step opens on Data Management rather than the desk: it reopens the screen you used last. Press Timing Desk in the rail.
  • The desk says No race picked: set the ACTIVE RACE in the header.
