What it's for
The status buttons on the window bar mark what happened to a racer. Select a number first — a row in Start, Finish or the Ranking — then press the button. On a narrow screen the right end of the bar (Clear, Missed impulse) folds into More ▾. A status shows on the desk, in Data Management and on the results. Every press is written to the journal with its reason; nothing is overwritten.
The buttons
- DNS — did not start. Only before the racer is on course.
- DNF — did not finish. Only once the racer is on course.
- DSQ — disqualified. Once the racer has started: on course, in the finish or on a DNF.
- DQP — disqualified, pending. Same rule as DSQ. (On the simple layout the button is drawn but reads Planned — not available yet.)
- NPS — not processed: park the racer. Any selected number.
- Clear — clears the status; the number goes back where it was.
- Re-run — gives the selected racer another run: their start and finish are crossed out (the times are kept) and the racer waits in the Re-run area. There, Start next (or a double-click) puts them back on the start list as the next to start; Take back undoes a re-run given by mistake and puts the crossed-out impulses back as they were.
- Missed impulse — one button for start and finish. With the next to start selected, it says their start was missed: they go on course with no clock running, waiting for a hand time, and the next start goes to the next racer. With a racer on course selected, it says their finish was missed: they go into the finish, waiting for a hand time, and the next finish goes to the next racer on course. Press it again on the same racer to take it back. The row reads waiting HT where the time would be.
A status can also be given by right-clicking a row (the status box with a reason in your own words, a reason code — missed gate, gate fault, equipment, jury decision — and the gate number), or in Modify data under Status, Gate and Reason.
What happens after a missed impulse
The desk works the hand time out itself, in the background, from System B or a hand tape when one is there, and tells you in a notice above the desk: Bib 7 finish calculated from System B: 48.88 *HT. The notice has Open (Modify data with the calculation up) and OK; it never takes focus and never holds timing. A racer whose time could not be calculated stays at waiting HT until you enter one through Modify data. See Modify data and hand time.
If something goes wrong
- A button is greyed: hover it. Did Not Start — only before they are on course. Bib 7 is on course says which rule stopped it.
- Missed impulse — the race is locked (red): nothing is recorded.: open the race first.
- Missed impulse — bib 7 has a status (DNF): clear the status first.
- A status came from the timing software, not the desk: on a race timed with other software the buttons are indicators only; give the status there.
