What it's for

Race Relay pings you for messages, documents, start-time changes and, for an admin, coach and join requests. Two switches decide what you hear: the phone's own switch, and a level per group.

Before you start

  • On iPhone the app must be on your home screen first (see Install Race Relay); a browser tab cannot ping you.

Turn on this phone

  1. Tap 👤 on Chats. Notifications is the first card: 🔔 Notifications on this phone: OFF — turn on.

  2. Tap the switch and allow notifications when the phone asks. The line changes to ON since <date>.
  3. Tap 📳 Send me a test ping to prove it rings.

The same switch is offered wherever it is off: the amber Setup line on Chats (Turn on), the banner 🔔 Notifications are OFF on this phone — messages, documents and start times will not ping you with its 🔔 Turn on notifications button (✕ hides it for this session only), and a line at the top of every group's notification sheet.

A level per group

  1. Long-press the group on Chats and tap 🔔 Notifications, or tap the Alerts bar at the top of the chat.
  2. Pick Every message, Every 5 messages, Documents only or Off.
  3. To quiet it for a while, tap 1 hour or 1 day under Mute temporarily. Unmute appears while it runs.
  4. Tap Done.

A group mute silences that group's chat only. Documents, start-time changes and, for an admin, coach and join requests still ping unless you mute the whole club with 🔔 Mute club on the club card. While a club is muted, Chats shows 🔕 <Club> is muted on this phone with Unmute ›.

What success looks like

Settings says ON since <date>, the test ping arrives, and the chat's Alerts bar shows the level you chose.

If something goes wrong

  • BLOCKED in your phone's settings — iPhone: Settings › Notifications › RaceRelay › Allow Notifications; then tap I turned them on — check again.
  • add RaceRelay to your Home Screen first — install the app and open it from its icon.
  • Notifications aren't switched on by the organiser yet — tell the club; nothing on your phone fixes this.
