What it's for

A one-to-one chat with someone in one of your clubs: a coach to the organiser, a parent to a coach, the timer to the TD.

Steps

  1. On Chats tap ✎ New message (beside Direct messages).
People who share a club with you, grouped by club
    New private message
  2. Find the person: type a Name, club or role. Each row shows their role (Coach, Volunteer, ROC, Timer, TD, Medic).
  3. Tap the person. The chat opens; it is listed under Direct messages from now on.
  4. Tap + › 🎿 Competitor to send a racer's card from the followed race's start list; the card opens Live when tapped.

Privacy

  • ⋯ › Who is in this chat shows the two of you.
  • ⋯ › 🚫 Block — they can't message you stops this person; ✓ Unblock reverses it.
  • Settings › Privacy › 🔒 Turn off messages from people I don't know limits private messages to people who share a group with you, not just a club.
  • Long-press the chat on Chats and tap 🗑 Delete chat…, then Tap again — removes this chat from your list.

What success looks like

The chat is under Direct messages on Chats, with the crumb Private message at the top.

If something goes wrong

  • Private messages with a junior member are only open to their parent or guardian — the app refuses the chat; contact the club instead.
  • This person isn't taking private messages from you — they blocked you or turned off messages from people they don't know.
  • This person isn't on Race Relay yet — they are on the club's list but have not joined on a phone.
