What it's for

A FIS race carries a codex, is seeded from the FIS points list, is drawn by the ICR, and ends with a penalty, a timing report and two XML files that FIS accepts. Race Bureau pulls the facts from FIS where it can, applies the articles it can apply, and leaves every Jury decision to you. This page is the FIS paperwork in the order it falls due.

The chain

  1. The event on the FIS calendar — Event info › EVENT TYPE › FIS, then ⟳ Update from FIS pulls the races and codices; each race's CODEX per gender is what every document and file is keyed on. → Event info
  2. The FIS reference on the documents — General parameters carries the CODEX, PREFIX, TD NUMBER and the LIST line that must read Valid for race date. → General parameters
  3. The points list — download the current FIS points list and choose the one the race runs on (today's or the next). → FIS points list
  4. Entries against the list — athletes off the list come in ACTIVE with their points; a code the list does not know shows CHECK; Update FIS points rewrites the points the night a new list lands. → Import from FIS list · Update FIS points · Clear CHECK flags
  5. Quota and free entries — entries per nation against the FIS quota table; the series' free-entry rule flagged 🆓 FREE. → Check quota · Check free entries
  6. If FIS moves the race — Refresh event from FIS reads the calendar for every codex and moves the race day to match. → Refresh event from FIS
  7. The draw by the rules — Ski rules X best (ICR 621), the ANC Cup draw (COC 3) or your own saved rule; the articles are on the reference pages and what stays the Jury's call is listed. → Draw — start order & bibs · Seeding & start order · Draw and seeding
  8. Run 2 — the first 30 of Run 1 reversed (ICR 621.11), 15 if the Jury decided. → Run 2
  9. Official results — the results sheet titled Official Results and released; on a FIS race the bar also offers Not yet official on FIS · Check now. → Results · Release results
  10. The penalty — best 10 at the finish, best 5 at the start, (A + B − C) / 10, the adder and the minimum from the list's own first page; the sheet the TD signs. → Penalty calculation · How the penalty is calculated
  11. The timing report — the FIS TR XML v1.17 in four steps, with ⤒ Extract Times from Event filling System A, System B and the hand column from the desk. → Timing report · The timing report rules
  12. Submit to FIS — Check / build builds the results XML and the timing report XML; Send both (two presses) emails them to the FIS results address; every send is logged. → Submit to FIS
  13. Accepted by FIS — when FIS replies, press Accepted by FIS on Results file and Timing report and type the penalty FIS confirmed. The TD's race card then reads Accepted by FIS, Timing report valid and Penalty valid — or FIS's penalty beside ours when they differ. → Timing report and penalty check (TD)
  14. Archive — the final checklist's FIS item, Results validated & accepted by FIS, can now be ticked. → Archive an event

What success looks like

The LIST line reads Valid for race date, CHECK reads 0 before the draw, the Applied penalty matches the TD's hand calculation, the final XML saves without a warning, and the three rows on Submit to FIS read Accepted by FIS.

If something goes wrong

  • ⟳ Update from FIS finds nothing: the event is Non-FIS, or the codex is not on the calendar.
  • A row stays CHECK after the flags are cleared: the code is not on the loaded list; check it in Modify competitor.
  • Send both is grey: a file is not built; release the official results, or save the timing report.
  • FIS rejects a file: fix the race, release again, Check / build, send again; the log keeps every send.
  • FIS's penalty differs from ours: FIS's value is the race's penalty; nothing on the TD side changes it.
